Terms of Use

Your agreement with Avoqia for using Qareeb — eligibility, conduct, rights, and responsibilities.

1. Agreement

By downloading, accessing, or using Qareeb (قريب) ("the App", "the Service"), operated by Avoqia ("we", "us", "our"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines.

3. Eligibility — 18+ only

You must be at least 18 years old to use Qareeb. By using the Service, you represent that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. We may request proof of age and suspend or terminate accounts that do not meet this requirement.

4. Your account

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and device.
  • You may use Qareeb as a guest or with a registered email account.
  • You must provide accurate date-of-birth information for age verification.
  • Your nickname should not be your real name; anonymity is encouraged.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • You must not share your account credentials with others.

5. The Service

Qareeb provides nickname-based chat and discovery features including:

  • Random matching with strangers
  • Direct chat via personal links
  • Text messaging and image sharing
  • View-once media (best-effort ephemeral delivery)
  • Reporting, blocking, and community moderation

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time.

6. Your content

You keep your rights in content you send or upload to Qareeb, such as messages, images, and profile text. You grant Avoqia a limited, non-exclusive license to use that content only as needed to operate, provide, protect, and improve the Service, including displaying it to intended recipients, storing it, transmitting it, backing it up, and reviewing it when reported or when there is a credible safety concern.

This license does not give us the right to sell your content or use it in advertising outside the operation of Qareeb.

7. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct

You agree to use Qareeb lawfully and in accordance with our Community Guidelines. You must not:

  • Harass, threaten, bully, or abuse other users
  • Post hate speech, discriminatory content, or incite violence
  • Share sexual content involving minors or exploit anyone
  • Share non-consensual intimate images
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
  • Share others' private personal data (doxxing)
  • Distribute malware, spam, scams, or fraudulent content
  • Attempt to circumvent moderation, blocks, or safety systems
  • Use the Service for illegal activity in any jurisdiction
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or abuse the API or infrastructure

8. Chat, media, and view-once messages

  • Messages and media you send may be stored on our servers to deliver the Service.
  • View-once media is designed to limit re-viewing within the app, but we cannot prevent screenshots, screen recording, or other capture by recipients. View-once is not a guarantee of permanent deletion on the recipient's device.
  • Uploaded images and reported content may be reviewed by moderation for safety purposes.
  • You retain responsibility for content you send. Do not send content you do not have the right to share.

9. Reporting, blocking, and moderation

  • You can report users and content that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
  • You can block users to prevent further contact.
  • We review reports and may take action including warnings, content removal, suspension, or permanent ban.

10. No guarantee of matches or availability

Qareeb does not guarantee that you will find a match, that chats will continue uninterrupted, or that the Service will be available at all times. We are not responsible for the conduct of other users.

11. Advertising and monetization

  • Ads and paid features may be available where enabled and are subject to consent and applicable store policies.
  • We reserve the right to introduce advertising, subscriptions, or other paid features with notice where required.

12. Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law, or if we reasonably believe your account poses a safety risk.

You may delete your account at any time via the in-app deletion flow or https://qareeb.avoqia.com/account-deletion/.

13. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL CONTENT FROM OTHER USERS.

Qareeb is a communication platform. We are not responsible for user-generated content or the actions of other users.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, Avoqia AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) EUR 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Avoqia from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts in Germany shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence where applicable.

17. Changes

We may update these Terms. The updated version will be posted at https://qareeb.avoqia.com/terms/. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
