1. Our commitment

Avoqia is committed to keeping Qareeb (قريب) as safe as possible for nickname-based chat. This policy explains how reporting, blocking, and moderation work.

Operator: Avoqia

Contact: [email protected]

Website: https://qareeb.avoqia.com/

2. Basic safety expectations

Qareeb is intended for users aged 18 and over. When using the Service:

  • Do not share your password, login codes, MFA codes, or verification codes with anyone.
  • Do not share sensitive personal information with strangers, such as your home address, government IDs, bank details, or private images you would not want redistributed.
  • Stop the conversation and use block or report if you feel uncomfortable, pressured, or threatened.
  • Do not send sexual, exploitative, violent, or illegal content.
  • Remember that view-once media does not prevent screenshots or screen recording.

3. How reporting works

3.1 In-app reporting

Users can report other users or specific messages from within a chat or profile context. When you submit a report, you may be asked to:

  • Select a reason (e.g. harassment, spam, inappropriate content, safety concern)
  • Provide optional details
  • Link the report to a conversation or message when applicable

3.2 What happens after you report

  • Your report is queued for review by authorized moderation personnel.
  • We may examine the reported conversation, messages, and any attached media.
  • We may take action on the reported account (warning, suspension, ban) or dismiss the report if no violation is found.
  • We do not guarantee a specific response time, but we prioritize safety-related reports.

3.3 Report data

Reports are stored securely and linked to your account for investigation purposes. See our Privacy Policy for retention details.

4. How blocking works

4.1 What blocking does

When you block a user:

  • They cannot start new chats with you via random matching or your personal link.
  • Existing conversations may show limited interaction depending on app state.
  • The blocked user is not notified that you blocked them.

4.2 Unblocking

Blocking may be reversible depending on app features. Contact support if you need assistance.

5. Moderation review

5.1 Who reviews

Authorized Avoqia moderation staff (via the admin moderation system) review reports and safety issues.

5.2 What moderators can see

Moderators may access:

  • Reported conversations and message content
  • Linked media and images
  • User profile information relevant to the report
  • Message snapshots attached to reports
  • Audit logs of moderation actions

5.3 Actions moderators may take

  • Dismiss a report
  • Warn a user
  • Remove or restrict content
  • Suspend or permanently ban an account
  • Escalate to law enforcement where legally required

All significant moderation actions are logged in audit records.

6. Sensitive and view-once media review

6.1 Standard media

Images and media sent in chat may be reviewed by moderation when reported or when there is a credible safety concern.

6.2 View-once media

View-once messages are designed to limit re-viewing within the app. However:

  • View-once media may be reviewed for safety purposes when reported.
  • Moderation may access reported view-once content to investigate violations.
  • View-once does not prevent recipients from taking screenshots or recordings.
  • Do not send view-once content you would not want reviewed if reported.

This is disclosed in-app and in our Privacy Policy.

7. Emergency disclaimer

Qareeb is not an emergency service.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger:

  • Contact local emergency services (e.g. police, ambulance) in your country.
  • Do not rely on Qareeb or Avoqia support for urgent life-threatening situations.

For non-emergency safety concerns, use the in-app report feature or email [email protected].

8. Child safety

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and exploitation of minors. Suspected CSAM is reported to relevant authorities as required by law. Users must be 18+.

9. Appeals

If you believe your account was actioned in error, contact [email protected] with your support ID and a description of the issue. We will review appeals at our discretion.
